Introduction.

E-Waste and old household appliances are very common in most homes. Most people want to do the right thing for the environment and are reluctant to put unwanted items in their rubbish. So …. their E-Waste just accumulates at home or in the garage. You can turn this junk into a source of fundraising.

How to Partner with ReGreen-IT to turn E-Waste into Cash

In essence, you hold an E-Waste drive over a suggested two week period. I will explain the steps in a school context and this of course could be adapted to any sporting club, or non-profit organisation.

Set a Date. – We suggest a two week period.
Setup a drop-off zone that is easy for parents to access. It should be lockable to stop out-of-hours pilfering and people making a mess rummaging, and use our bins, see below.
Place Bins. We can deliver (preferred method) one or more 1100Ltr bins for the dropping off of e-waste. These have wheels for ease of handling.
Create a flyer to hand out. Key flyer points:

– Up to $1 for every 2kg of E-Waste.

– Any E-Waste accepted. Desktop computers, laptops, tablets, printers, old mobile phones, old DVD players, TV sets, Also scrap metal. etc.

– Larger items can be collected by Re Green IT ( like big screen TV’s, scrap metal etc)

– Data will be guaranteed to be destroyed.

– Re Green IT will recycle all items as per their goal to find “the highest and best use” such as reuse, resale, donation to charity, disassemble and reuse of parts, or as a last resort dismantling to reclaim precious metals. We try to avoid anything going to landfill.

Run the event. We can collect items by the ute load and after each load a weight will be provided. Any heavy items/appliances may be eligible to be collected directly will be added to the total.

Engage Parents: The most successful schools utilize parents who have business or work e-waste. ReGreen IT will attend their premises and collect items (minimum ½ ute load) and add to the tally.

Bank Proceeds: After the event we’ll ensure the site is clean and you can bank your proceeds.

Payment Rates.

We will pay up to 50c per kg for all e-waste. The full schedule of rates are attached. Rates fluctuate with market prices. It is not uncommon for schools to collect 1,500 to 2,000 kg of e-waste and earn between $500 and $1000. An easy, socially responsible, curriculum aligned project.

Teaching Kids about Sustainability.

We understand that sustainability and recycling is part of your student’s curriculum, and this “hands-on” approach can promote involvement via “active learning”. Students are normally very receptive to the event. Typically, they will discuss the importance of recycling and sustainability with their parents who support the children, the school, and the planet.
